Product description
Conforms to the wound bed
When in contact with exudate Biatain Silicone Ag with 3DFit Technology conforms closely to the wound bed for optimal delivery of silver ions and minimizing risk of bacterial growth in exudate pools. The product absorbs and retains exudate, reducing the risk of maceration and spreading of infection to the wound edges and periwound skin. The conformability of the product reduces exudate pooling and hereby risk of infection.
Sustained silver release
Biatain Silicone Ag gives effective management of local wound infection though continuous release of silver. The product is effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi, incl. i.e. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylocuccus aureus , which are known to form biofilms. The antimicrobial effect of the product is continuous through the entire wear time of up to 7 days (shown in vitro). The continuous release of silver makes it an effective way of managing local wound infection.
Gentle and secure fit
Biatain Silicone Ag has a gentle & secure fit due to the soft and skin friendly silicone adhesive. The adhesive layer provides a secure fit to keep the dressing in place during use while ensuring minimal pain upon removal.
Intuitive to use
Biatain® Silicone Ag is intuitive to use, and even with gloves the 3-piece non-touch is easy to handle for an easy and aseptic application.
Product composition
Biatain® Silicone Ag is a sterile, single use, antimicrobial polyurethane foam dressing, containing an antimicrobial silver complex that is released to the wound bed when in contact with wound exudate. The dressing has a vapour-permeable topfilm that is bacteria- and waterproof and a perforated, soft silicone adhesive layer.
Usage
Biatain® Silicone Ag is indicated for a wide range of low- to highly exuding wounds with delayed healing due to bacteria or wounds at risk of infection. This includes acute wounds such as second-degree burns, donor sites, post-operative wounds and traumatic wounds; and chronic wounds. The product may be left in place during shower and is also suitable for use in combination with compression therapy.
